CAMPAGNOLO UNVEILS THE LATEST FROM CHORUS The latest features for the Chorus 2007 groupsets focus on the new Ultra-Torque crankset and the new Skeleton brakes. The derailleurs and the lefthand Ergopower control exhibit functional enhancements
Ultra-Torque crankset. The Chorus crankset has been totally redesigned on the basis of Campagnolo's Ultra-Torque technology. The cranks are made of unidirectional carbon combined with multidirectional carbon, to obtain a structure with extremely high strength and rigidity values. There is no aluminium core inside but an uncompressible low-density material which resists the enormous moulding pressures applied during the production process developed by Campagnolo engineers. The bottom bracket semiaxles are fixed directly to the carbon structure without using metal inserts. The sole metal insert in the crank is the seat for the pedal thread. The use of a large integrated axle and external cups has lightened the weight of the assembly and raised the rigidity values, all without increasing the lateral bulk of the bottom bracket. As a result riders can benefit from higher performance without varying the pedal stroke. The new Ultra-Torque crankset with integrated bottom bracket weighs only 735 grams, in other words 60 grams less than the 2006 version.
Skeleton brakes. Chorus brakes are inspired by Campagnolo's Skeleton design. These new brakes feature increased rigidity in the points of highest stress and removal of material where there are no stresses. This solution has produced a considerable weight reduction with boosted performance. Chorus 2007 brakes are of the differentiated type: a powerful front brake and a progressive
rear one. Thanks to the differentiation of the two brakes it is possible to obtain the maximum braking power while reducing the risk of rear wheel locking to the minimum. This means lower
stopping spaces and greater safety. The weight is 324 grams, 35 grams lower than the 2006 version.
QS Front Derailleurs and Ergopower QS. The Chorus QS 2007 front derailleurs, in both the standard and compact crankset versions, have a longer outer link to provide snappier and lighter shifting in combination with Ergopower QS controls. The aluminium fork with a special anti-wear treatment increases the rigidity of the whole and therefore performance too.
