Santa Fe, New Mexico September 6, 2006-On a crisp fall day in the near future, women in the Southwest will have a chance to see what bike companies have to offer those of the female persuasion. The Pedal Queens, a women’s cycling club in Santa Fe, N.M., will be hosting Bike-a-GoGo — a Women’s Bicycle Demo Day and Expo, on Nov. 11, 2006 at the Santa Fe Community College. The club is inviting manufacturers of women-specific products, local retailers and other women-oriented businesses in the bicycle industry to attend. Major bike companies such as Specialized and Trek have already signed on for this chance to showcase their products to dozens of women who will gather for the event. The Demo Day and Expo will feature both road and mountain bike products, as well as nutritional goods and apparel.
Keeping with the fun-loving spirit of the Pedal Queens, there will also be contests, prizes, and an after-party for the ladies attending. The club hopes to draw women from Arizona,Colorado, New Mexico and Texas for the event. With 112 members ranging from complete beginners to professional racers, the Pedal Queens are quickly becoming one of the largest women’s cycling clubs in the country. The club focuses on creating a supportive, non-threatening environment for women to learn about and ride both mountain and road bikes. Known for their pink feather boas and squeals of laughter, the Pedal Queens are excited to offer Bike-A-GoGo, a Women’s Bicycle Demo Day and Expo, as an opportunity for the bike industry to show their support for one of their largest target markets — female cyclists.
