Recycled Bicycle Sale On Saturday, August 18, from 12-3pm, Recycle-A-Bicycle is having a sale at our LIC location at 46th ave and 5th st. There will be adult bicycles and a few children's bicycles- all refurbished by youth
Kids have been working at Recycle-A-Bicycle in LIC for the last 7 weeks to learn basic bike mechanic skills. They have also gained job skills and earned bikes for themselves with extra volunteer hours. As part of their curriculum, they have repaired bicycles and organized all aspects of a street sale to learn about retail. This program is operated in partnership with Henry Street and Jacob Riis Settlement programs and funded by the City of New York Department of Youth and Community Development.
Recycle-A-Bicycle is a not for profit environmental education and job training program for New York City youth. We take donated bicycles, repair them and reintroduce them to the community through earn-a-bike programs in schools and sales from our non-profit retail locations. Our classes teach the importance of cycling and recycling, how to maintain and repair bicycles and our ride club teaches kids how to ride safely in the city. We operate two full service retail shops that are open to the public.
So spread the word, support our work and buy a bike! There will be adult bicycles and a few children's bicycles- all recycled and refurbished. We will be accepting cash and credit card only that day. This sale will take place rain or shine.
