Tinker wins 12hrs of Dirt Sweat and Gears
Tinker Juarez made the trip east from California to compete in the 12hr endurance event Dirt Sweat and Gears last weekend, fighting a tight battle over 11 laps, beginning the event in bike choking mud that soon gave way to pavement-like conditions as the course and weather improved. Typically you get slower as the race goes on. Quite the gift, if you ask me...faster courses are always better.
It was his first National Endurance Calendar win of the season and ties him with team mate Jason Sager for the lead in the year long points chase.
Meanwhile, with Tinker competing in the Southeastern US, MonavieCannondale.com sent athletes Sue Butler and Mitchell Peterson to three rounds of World Cup events in Belgium, Germany, and Spain...
World Cups are the ultimate battle ground for professional athletes. Short circuits, swollen field sizes, rabid crowds, and bristling energy, you won't find a race situation with the blender button any closer to frappe than here. The here happens to be one of my favorite places to race - Casa de Campos in downtown Madrid, Spain.
Bart Gilliespie kept things local (and victorious) in Utah, over teammate and MonavieCannondale.com team manager, Matt Ohran.
On the left coast, Jason Sager banged bars with Oregon's best and enjoyed a day in the park. Hard to argue with that, ain't it?
