During the day’s talks Mr Pisoni met UCI General Director Dieter Schellenberg, Training Manager Michael Flynn, Mountain Bike Coordinator Peter van den Abeele and Dominique Raymond, responsible for relations with national federations.
The subjects tackled included the development of road cycling and mountain biking in São Tomé and Príncipe, the scope for training provided by the UCI to commissaires and coaches, the opportunities for training courses for riders at both the UCI Continental Centre in South Africa and at the World Cycling Centre (WCC) in Switzerland, and participation by riders representing São Tomé and Príncipe at the African Continental Championships.
The national federation of São Tomé and Príncipe is a relative newcomer to the UCI family, its affiliation having only been finalised at the Stuttgart congress on 28 September 2007. It is one of 41 African UCI member organisations.
