PLANO BIKE CLUB
GIVING THE JOY OF CYCLING TO NEEDY CHILDREN
PLANO, TEXAS – December 17, 2009 – The Plano Bicycle Association (PBA) announced that it will be donating a dozen new kids’ bicycles of various sizes to needy children in Plano. The PBA is a non profit bicycle club based in Plano, Texas (childhood home of cycling champion -Lance Armstrong). In collaboration with the Douglass Community Center and through the assistance of PBA members and sponsors, the PBA was able to purchase, assemble and deliver twelve new bicycles to help less fortunate children in our community. Helmets were generously donated by Richardson Bike Mart who is one of the club’s partners. Without this gift, these kids may not get to experience the joy and the freedom of riding a bike that most kids take for granted. No one forgets their first bike!
“Last year, we began the bike donation program, giving away six new bicycles to needy children in Plano. In spite of the economy, this year we were able to double the number to twelve bicycles, reaching even more kids in need through the generous efforts of our club members and sponsors.” said Terry Brcka, PBA President.
Bikes will be donated tonight at the annual Christmas party that the Douglass Community Center puts on for its neighborhood community. The PBA has said that based on response it will try to increase its donation again next year.
