Tour d'Afrique Returns Home At just under 8000 km (5000 miles) the Tour d'Afrique's latest bike tour will be the longest organized tour of the continent and the only one that travels through the US and Canada.
After more than eight years of operating some of the longest and most exotic bike tours on the planet the Toronto based Tour d’Afrique Ltd is returning home to host its first ever bike tour in North America.
The new ride is aptly named The North American Epic, and starts from the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco on May 29th 2011 and crosses through 8 states and 5 provinces arriving in St. Johns, Newfoundland on August 28th. The three month long bike tour costs $9950 for the complete ride which includes all accommodations, meals, baggage service and full tour support. As with all their bike tours, Tour d'Afrique Ltd. offers cyclists the opportunity to sign up for shorter sections if they prefer. There are five shorter segments that can be ridden on the North American Epic ranging in price from $1800 to $2900 depending on the length of the section. More information about the Tour d’Afrique and the North American Epic bike tour can be found at their website at http://tourdafrique.com/tours/northamericanepic
Through the Tour d’Afrique Foundation the tour will also be supporting Trips For Kids® (TFK®), a national bike charity dedicated to supporting at risk youth. The tour will visit five chapters along the 8000 km route from San Francisco to St. John’s to make bike donations and to raise awareness about the great work being done by Trips for Kids.
